About me

My name is Husna, which in arabic means beautiful; I am always working to weave the meaning of my name into my art. My work is at the intersection of portraits and abstraction. I am a painter and penciler, equally comfortable in multiple media. I’m fluid with watercolor, create depth with acrylic, and can make light and dark come alive with pastel and charcoal. Simply put, I am an artist and I’m now exploring how to weave photography into my artistic profile.

My Background is inspiration for most of my peices. I was born in the Bay Area to a father raised in Richmond and a mother born overseas. I speak two languages— my mother’s tongue, Farsi. I never eat food from the same geographic region on any given night because like my plate, my DNA is from all over the world. From my dad I have DNA from North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia, and from my mom I have DNA from Tehran, Iran. Both my parents are artists, my mom as a baker and my dad like me, in visual art.
